Edition II: 3 – 6 December 2026, Den Haag

From 3 to 6 December, Modelo62 hosts a new edition of this festival featuring performances that test, blur and playfully transgress the boundaries of what music can be. 

Seeking new ways of connecting in an age of speed, digital stimuli and sensory overload, the programme encourages the audience and the artists to experience ‘sound’ not merely as a concert, but as a physical, social and shared experience. 

We believe Sound or Not to be a place of gathering and encounter, where attention is key and sound is the invisible thread that connects us all.  

When does sound become music, and what happens when we approach listening as an attentive, physical and shared experience? 

Modelo62 invites you to experience a different way of listening and sharing—space for slowing down, connection, imagination and rediscovering music as a ritual for coming together with others. 

Sound or Not is a festival organised and curated by Modelo62, following the spirit of Mieko Shiomi’s text score piece “Boundary Music” (1963). Across these days you’ll encounter music theater, works from the wide canon of experimental music, and interdisciplinary pieces resulting from our collaborations with diverse makers.  

Spend these days at the boundary with us, to explore the threshold between sound and non-sound, between music and everything else.
